Tired hungry and frustrated.

Too many activities in a day, ending off with tuition and with dinner still on my hands, waiting for 25 min for a bloody cab which is always abundant on the other side of the road, gave up on cab and now waiting for train, with lagi tired legs.

Grouchy me.

With my luck, I'll probably reach home to find that the food is spoiled :(

Of double standards and homo sapiens

Double standards: any code or set of principles containing different provisions for one group of people than for another. - Defined by Dictionary.com.

I believe everyone has double standards. I try not to. But at times I have to admit I may display slight double standards as well. I guess the difference is between whether you want to try to be as uniform as possible, or that you just simply do not care whether you are consciously or subconsciously displaying double standards. For there is always one side who will side with you, isn't it? And most of the time, homo sapiens will care more about the side to whom they display the lower standard.

And since I try so hard not to display any, I often end up with 兩面不着岸。It should be ok in the end, because I have tried. But the reality is that it is never ok. 因爲兩面都不着岸的結果是溺水。

It's just a random post. Because I have seen too much of double standards that made me reflect on myself. Yes, nearly everyone around me has double standards. Myself included.

It is a great relief to finally say out what I have been wanting to say for months. And hence thereof I knew that I had also displayed double standards at this moment. But at this point I just don't feel like caring for anyone's feelings, and try to put myself in first place.

"Neither I nor anyone else knows what a standard is. We all recognize a dishonorable act, but have no idea what honor is." - Anton Pavlovich Chekhov (1860–1904), Russian author, playwright. Letter, April 9, 1889, to the writer A.N. Pleshcheev. Complete Works and Letters in Thirty Volumes, Letters, vol. 3, p. 186, "Nauka" (1976).

And it's always sleepy, seldom blue.

Sleep is never enough. But Lisbeth Salander is still so attractive that I spent the entire ride reading. Talk about irony..

Went to check blog counter and indeed I guess I indirectly helped Pornsak!! Haha good food deserves publicity. I was more baffled when I saw an entry that people googled for "isfj bitchiness" and got my blog?!? Out of curiousity I went to google it myself and *gasps* it's really there!! Haha -_- what a cheap thrill for a Monday morning.

Work this week will be fun with tomorrow going to MI (distance NOT fun!) and ending off at Lucasfilm, MCIP on Wed and Thurs, and ERP on Thurs afternoon!! :D

Maybe I could consider taking leave on Friday to anticipate the grand ending of N level tuition! ONE MORE WEEKEND. Woohoo it calls for a celebration already!! End of volunteer work.. Haha.

Porn's at Liang Seah Street - Sexy Thai Food! (Pornsak's restaurant)

Seeing that Porn's is so new, and that I couldn't really find much info about it online, I shall make the headlines easier for google searches for reviews of the food there :)

A note to Pornsak: Please set up a website!!! Fb site is not enough!!

I really liked this one the wall even before stepping in, just seeing it on other people's websites. Simple, classy. Nice!

One funny thing was that when we went in with the cake, I requested to have the cake held until after dinner, and Pornsak actually thanked me for that?!? In any case, I must thank the person on the phone (I think it's the other boss) when I made the reservation, for being uber friendly *thumbs up*

The side dishes came first (duh), and we sunk our teeth into the prawn cake. One word - good! Texture and filling, was to my liking. :D

The rice crackers were so-so (until I discovered the dip which I completely ignored for the first bite of the cracker and thus the dip made it much better).

Then our mains started to arrive and they look good as well.. ~~~

Pad Thai *something something*. The stalk of lemongrass amused us and it was a pity the beansprouts by the side were raw else I would have finished it! The Pad Thai was good because the prawns were super fresh and the noodles were not too oily! I thought it could be compared with Black Canyon's and in my mind Black Canyon is already kinda awesome (:

Yiwen's green curry was (I thought) a little too sweet but then again it was not bad as well!

Liping's food: Pork garlic - yums. Though I was thinking this doesn't really spell Thai.. Does it?

Stuffed chicken wings. This has got to be the best IMHO. Eh, the feeling of chewing chicken wing without the bones!!! Plus the meat + vermicelli inside was well marinated and with the standard Thai sweet and sour sauce = winner!

One thing I really liked about the restaurant is that the serving size of the food is not huge - it means we can share sides without being bloated right at the end. And the mains weren't terribly expensive (though the sides were a tad, I feel), so it's ok to order more food and share!

Because I placed a cake with Pornsak, he knew that I have a birthday person with me (but he didn't know there were 2!) and hence when we requested for him to take a photo with us, he popped by with a gift for our birthday ladies!

Lastly..

Yuenling says he blended in very well!! HAHA.

Awesome service + decent food: It's definitely not the last time I'm going back!! I *might* just be converted to drinking Tom Yum soup with their soup there.. It's got a kick!

Great dinner with the guys! Except that I super dislike the "But Facetime is better" and all the relevant arguments that followed! Tsk refuse to engage in iPhone fanboy talk.

Now I really wanna wanna try Raindrops - even for the fruit beer if not for the food!

Screwed up..

Too many things happening at one go, screwed up my schedule massively. Miscommunication with student and now I feel so guilty. And stressed because there are but so few sessions left but so many things more to go.

Screwed up! Cannot be because everything is here all at once then 亂了陣腳!

Small peak over

Hell of a rush over the past week, at least it's over (for now). Feel so tired suddenly, now that what's for today, is over.

I got something better than striking Toto today =) Bright spirits throughout the afternoon.

がんばって!

Lousy day continues :'(

Couldn't finish rushing the slides - even boss only had a sketchy idea. Cancelled tuition and thought I'll come home to do instead so that I can have dinner and relax abit before starting.

Turns out that there was no dinner for me at home :(

----------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, operation ferrous intake starts. Downed a tablet of ferrous furamate in the morning, had Milo, and ordered yakiniku for lunch! If that doesn't help in the 2 Oct appointment, I don't know what will!!!

Shucks it's the end of the weekend

And I HAVE not finished my slides :'(

But I am sleepy.

Therefore I am going to sleep.

And I can foresee tomorrow I might be cancelling tuition. Tsk!

Lousy lousy day

Stared like an idiot in front of the com in the morning.

Wasted half an hr staring at the auntie at the SMRT counter because she keyed in my IC number wrongly and thus the system could not retrieve my records for refund.

Specially made a trip down to bloodbank@HSA just to realise that I'm 0.3mg/L short of iron. 0.3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT THE. Damn I will eat lots of iron packed food and try again next week.

Kena irritated, and arrived so late that I didn't really do anything.

And now I have to do work even though I can prolly fall asleep within 2 min of lying on the bed because tmr is another day of tuition and I have to finish the damn slides before I go back Monday...

Someone needs to deliver Starbucks to my hse right now. I NEED CAFFEINE.

SMRT, you win liao lor.

Stood there like an idiot for half an hour because you keyed in the bloody wrong IC number. Thanks alot.

Today is such a lousy day.

Feeling inept in more ways than one

When she refused to say anything, and thus I concluded that it was more serious than it looked but still didn't know what the hell happened. Until aunt came to ask me and I still had no idea. And neighbour asked if she's feeling better AND I also didn't know any better. That was how inept I felt.

When the email came back with plenty of suggestions for changes; which is definitely not the first time, nor is it going to be the last. Between one with experience, and one with knowledge, feeling more than inept. And I can hear more butchering coming along. Not that it's a bad thing, except that the block of little confidence is further chipped away each time.

Sigh..

And once again the weekend is over.

3 day weekend and I stayed at home 2 of the days :) But it was flooded with tuition! Thankfully the N levels will be over in a month!

Had a crazy sat - Woke up at 8am just to have breakfast with the family before going on a rebellious mission which ended up in Raffles Place (for 5min), then heading down to Bugis to meet the guy who wanted to buy a haversack and hence was willing to go SLS with me for my microSD! Chop chop done in 30 min (and I think the time that he used to shop for bubble tea, shirts, bags, jackets etc was way more than my woman shopping time tsk!) and headed for some walking at Parco before heading for Beach Rd (time check, only 12pm here hor) to look for the bags. AND I ended up getting a bag as well, tsk! But well, since I have been always looking for one..

And lunch was at 1plus at the quite nice Aston's and then tuition at 2plus to 5plus where we headed down to Bugis to have a quick dinner. Reached Tampines by 7 (yes, so many things happened and its ONLY 7pm) and had a chance occurance with <3s! Sat down with them for dinner and IN THE END spent more $$ @ TM but it was OMG-so-good durian mooncakes ~~~~~~

Total damage for Saturday: 52.90 + 60 + 46.80 + 10 + 4 + SMRT earned ALOT :(

THANK GOD FOR PAYDAY!! :D

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Had a super healthy meal today (almost)! I was amused at the stalk of the broccoli because it looked so funny!

Tada, all in preparation for my chef status.

Entire day was chopping, sweeping, mopping, greasing, boiling, mixing, eating and cleaning up. :)

Hehe. Looks damn good, but unfortunately the sauce was not that nice afterall. :(

It runs in the family, the mother-daughter genes

It's been a very long time since I last nua-ed until like that. Other than tuition in the morning, that is.

Mum is feeling rebellious... Which is high time she started to do so! And therefore I realise where I inherit my character from.. Haha.. :) We're really alike in so many ways. Don't agitate us and we're your best friend. But once you go beyond that line.. That's it! Revenge starts and is sweet..

Enough of nua-ing, it's time to start on some work..

TGIT!

Oh.. Not so fun to have tuition waiting for me after work though.

The more I read, the more I'm awed by Lisbeth Salander. Interesting character, protects herself damn well, in all aspects. Respect!

Still water.. It looks like I'm hugging the laptop home tonight.

Food for thought

In the course of sweating over running IP Forum smoothly, I noticed that all the female lawyers.. are single.

Are they too career oriented? Or too fiercely independent? Or they are so successful that men will develop an inferiority complex whenever they meet these lawyers??

Some food for thought..

Salute to mums

It really is not easy bringing up any child with any kind of disability.

Salutes them.

The reason why I always prefer books over movies

Things about books are always so subtle and implicit. When you read the book the first time, you get the gist and you get the plot (most of them anyway). When you read the second time, you find details which you didn't manage to catch the first time because you didn't know that these details would be so important down the book.

Which is precisely the reason why I'm still wondering wth is pippi the password to the Palm Pre. But then I digress. For a good writer, there are always some subtle details that a reader, bring absorbed in the plot, will miss. A movie can't, and don't, act out in this way. The movie has to be explicit enough if not people who didn't read the book wouldn't know what the hell is going on.

The movie was very explicit, which I supposed was good for the non readers. But it was so explicit that I think it might have lost bits and pieces of Lisbeth that made her to be so powerful in the book. Hmmm, like I just can't see her 'weigh the consequence' character bring portrayed. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to the next one!

IP forum is over!!!!

Very very glad that one thing is off the load. Though the prospect of still having to work with him seems hellish, but at least I wouldn't have to worry bout it for a couple more months!

It's a pity more people couldn't make it, which made our effort abit zzz.

As with all huge events, exams etc, first thing after the event is huge drain. Body finally stops suppressing everything and therefore I'm absolutely having a mega headache now that suddenly appeared right after the end of the forum. Gah. Good thing I'm almost home..

With the laptop for due logistical stuff -_-

Tomorrow is THE DAY.

Let's hope that I will not get tongue tied in front of 100++ people and that everything goes smoothly including no hanging of laptops like last yr! Tsk.

Break a leg!

Wednesday, September 1, 2010

Oh no oh no it's back!

Let's hope that it's only temporary.

Meanwhile, archery + barrage was so fun today! Interesting photos up when they post it. :)

As much as I have gripes about him, I have to admit that they did an impressive job for EAS day.
