Spectre

I think the hype of James Bond got to me.

After numerous positive reviews (and 1 skeptical non-positive one), I walked into the cinema with damn high expectations of Daniel Craig, ready to be impressed by yet another amazing 007 movie.

Daniel Craig was (as usual) impressive alright, but the plot left me unsatisfactory. Things were not as tight, plots were thin (I mean, how does he know what to do in those clueless situations?!), and in the end, it totally fell short of my expectations.

Skyfall was much more enjoyable, and the plot had a personal touch to Bond, which made his performance all the more spectacular. Spectre tried to weave everything in but felt like a half-hearted effort....

That said, Judi Dench's cameo was a nice touch!

And randomly, I think I find myself opening up to the choice of watching movies alone.

Labour day public holiday happiness!

The Avengers is really too good. Seriously! It was probably a Marvel fan's dream come true, but ohh the superheroes are all adorable in their ways! Every single one of them~ It was THAT good until there was applause at the end of the show and a mini standing ovation!

Dinner at Wild Honey was equally good and the 3 hr meal - I bet no one realised it then, incl me - was filled with Marvel talk, friend talk and singles talk. Haha! If not for the fact that today is a working day, I think all of us could easily stay for another 1-2 hours of casual talk! Such is the camaraderie between the lot of us and I'm loving it :) Especially when you factor in the fact that we met up for 3/4 days (that is Sat, Sun AND Tues) and still find so many topics to talk about. I think that's quite a mean feat.

I am also constantly wondering how I got my friend cliques to intersect one another but I guess the more important is that they actually are ok with each other (since I can't remember for nuts anyway).

To friends, with love.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1

Harry Potter was awesome. =)) So glad I managed to catch it on the first day! So glad I bought tickets way beforehand and got fantastic seats.

As usual, it couldn't follow the book 100% else it would bore the readers to death with its minute details (not for a fanatic, though), and the depth of the book is always compromised for the sake of non book followers. But there are a lot of awfully exciting scenes - I jumped at a few, in fact. Gosh, if the movie had been made in 3D, I'll be jumping in my seat half the time! The splitting of the movie is of course, needless to say, fantastic since many more intricate details are being brought out.

The ending of the movie stopped at a good cliff too - something that gives an ending to this part of the book and a foreboding sense of what is to come next. I can't wait for HP and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 in July 2011!! If I thought the last movie was good, this movie is way better. Awesomeeeeee. Can't get enough of it!

First sign of getting old

Sleeping at 11pm on a Friday night; waking up automatically at 7plus on a Saturday morning. OMG. And it's not even the wake-up-feeling-refreshed kind, it's more of I-woke-up-because-I-slept-too-many-hours kind. @_@ Getting old.. OLD.

I guess since it's not too far from the usual time I wake up during weekdays, my body volunteered me for a Saturday morning shift of work -.-" Need to finish the newsletter by Sunday night! And hopefully this will be as good as the previous one, with MINIMAL changes!!

Yes lah, Harry Potter here I come on 17th Nov :)

Yet another early Saturday morning with nothing to do

When it's way too early to be thinking of work and I woke up only wanted to go back to sleep but still can't because I made a promise and in the end I was not there.

Always kena conned to wake up early for nothing.. I never imagine I'll finish the The Stepford Wives DVD early on a Saturday morning when I borrowed it. :(

On a bright side, going to watch the last of the Millennium series later. =))

And hopefully he made it!

The reason why I always prefer books over movies

Things about books are always so subtle and implicit. When you read the book the first time, you get the gist and you get the plot (most of them anyway). When you read the second time, you find details which you didn't manage to catch the first time because you didn't know that these details would be so important down the book.

Which is precisely the reason why I'm still wondering wth is pippi the password to the Palm Pre. But then I digress. For a good writer, there are always some subtle details that a reader, bring absorbed in the plot, will miss. A movie can't, and don't, act out in this way. The movie has to be explicit enough if not people who didn't read the book wouldn't know what the hell is going on.

The movie was very explicit, which I supposed was good for the non readers. But it was so explicit that I think it might have lost bits and pieces of Lisbeth that made her to be so powerful in the book. Hmmm, like I just can't see her 'weigh the consequence' character bring portrayed. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to the next one!

Aftershock

Aftershock was good. Very good. Was very immersed in the movie throughout and totally focused on the show.

Then the show ended and everything came back.

The 表姨 or 老姨 or whoever she is must have thought that I was a spoiled brat staring at them pack up.. Well.. I was just stoning too much to move. Not that I really care what she thinks anyway.

快。狠。准。

Nothing can go wrong with Donnie Yen. Seriously.

業問2 ♥

Same superb moves as the first movie, I love the seemingly slow yet responsive fists and of course the chain of punches that followed thereafter. And the dark humour, of course. Donnie Yen perfects that to a T.

My only grouch is that the movie ended too soon, the final scene was too fast. Blah. I want 200 minutes of Donnie Yen fighting!!! He has officially elevated up the status to Jackie Chan shows - every movie also must watch!

It invokes a kind of 中國精神 that makes me so proud to be a Chinese :D People ask why I like to watch 武打片, in particular a comment which *ahem* says that girls shouldn't like all these. HELLO, cannot meh? I just like stunt scenes and how perfectly executed every move is. It is so impossible to do a scene well without the fab actors and I salute all martial arts movies! (ok, maybe 刺淩 was an exception...) DONNIE YEN PLS ACT IN IP MAN 3 IF IT SURFACES!

Ahh... ♥ Let me just bask in the Youtube world of Wing Chun demos as well as realise how superb his English is! Maybe I'll try watching the German shows that he did action choreography for :p

I wanna get the DVD when it comes out!!!!!! 業問, 業問2, 業問, 業問2.......

Went to watch Monga yesterday, and boy, it was good. Very thought inducing and I AM still confused at the plot, but it's really good! Brotherhood and other sub themes, very clearly displayed.

Gonna enjoy SA 2010 later~ And squinting at more MS in between commercials :s

I AM GOING TO SLEEP AT 10 TODAY!

March is over!!!

Never been more glad that March is finally out of the way. A brand new month awaits, with more things and hopefully more stuff to do. Rather an avalanche, than still water!

Thinking if I should take up Junwei's dad's offer. I wonder if I have the capacity to deal with one more student. That said, the fact that I promised some time ago mattered more than the amount of $$ I will get. I've already been doing charity cases as it is, hahaha. Hmmm.. I do need to make sure that my work-life-family balance will not be upset by taking on another student.. Fine, fine, it was already tilted in the first place :s

Been thinking alot these days. Too much, in fact. It's time to be wary and not believe everything at face value. Welcome to the world. The sooner I get this into my head, the better off I'll be.

That said, I had a good time laughing my feet off at Wimpy Kid yesterday. Too plotless, too lame, but yes, just funny!! And Marilyn: I'm not ashamed to let the world know I wanted to watch this, lol!! I have all 4 books in fact >.< I just feel that everyone needs a brainless funny movie once in a while. One that doesn't require any thinking and just silly laughter all the way. And oh, the mom is so pretty..

Thursday is the last workday of the week woohoo~! Time to get my computer over the weekend.. I seriously need a laptop! Anyone wanna recommend me anything??

Bodyguards and Assassins

So disturbing, but so good. No, i'm not psychotic. Both plot and action were very well executed, albeit the gross amount of stabbing and blood. Yet, those were needed for the overall show impact.

Just glad that we didn't end up nua-ing at home and missed the fantastic movie!

!!!

Did an amazing feat. I WOKE UP AT 2 TODAY.

0_0 Well done. I haven done this in.. forever??? The past few times where I slept only at 6plus or 7plus, I will automatically wake up at 12.. Oh well, I did wake up at 9 (only due to alarm clock), and then 12, then decided that since I was doing nothing today (or so I thought) I might as well go back to sleep. And the next time my eye opened, it was 2.. 0_0

But at least I had >7 hrs of sleep, which leaves me sufficiently rested, and finally woke up to do some mundane stuff.. Like changing my bedsheet (and nono, it was not because it was sat on by other ppl yesterday :s), catching up on my long lost 桃花小妹, and doing a little tuition work. Unfortunately, I could only manage to catch up 1/2 of ONE pathetic episode.. :s

Because I have to stop and prepare, for going out to watch Bodyguards and Assassins later! Woohoo! :)))))))

Chipmunks and Chipettes!

SOOOOOOOOO cute, I was smiling the entire way throughout the movie. Not quite something I've done for the past movies, or the past couple of days, for that matter. There's always an irritating thing or two, but Alvin and Simon and Theodore has dissolved all that grouchiness =D

Oh dear, I think I'm in love with Theodore! It upsets me to see him sad :(

But as all cartoons go.. All's well that ends well!

After 3 days of non tired feeling, the tired feeling came back!!!

Whoever said holidays are meant for rest :p

Full packed activities through the uber long weekend, starting with the mad dinner on Thursday to the mini urban hike on Friday to the nua-ing + late night movie yesterday to cannot wake up for breakfast this morning. ...

But it was oh so fun and works starts tomorrow with one week's of inductions ahead :s

Cleared half of old movie list, but ADDED A FEW MORE AFTER WATCHING TRAILERS!!!

New list:

1) Alvin and the Chipmunks II
2) Bodyguards and Assassins
3) The Spy Next Door
4)蘇乞兒
5) One more Chinese show which I didn't catch the name.

On top of which.. Ironman II is coming out, and I'm anticipating Harry Potter and Ip Man II for this year!!

Bought a pretty little planner for myself yesterday. Looking at it brightens my day up.. :)

But the conv yest really left me quite speechless, of which, I shall decide to head down on Tuesday so I shall not be falsely accused. I mean, if it's really not there, then forget it. But I don't want a false accusation to hang over my head for something I've completely not done. It's damn disturbing, to realize at the end of the day after what I did, to end up with this type of nonsense. Unbalanced.

First day of 2010!

And 2009 concluded nicely.. with WII sans sensors. :\

Personally felt that 2009 had been a year of more downs than ups, for sole personal reasons. And.. I see no need to recall the events, because it's in archives :p I'm just sad that I think I became more grouchy. =.= Woes of growing up. On the other hand.. I've had the good fortune to have very good friends around, old and new. <3

2010 will be good. :) Spent a few hrs with LPY (as deciphered only 5 minutes later), and quite enjoyed myself with the mini urban hike and food, and just let time pass away! *salutes* to Clement, for being our welfare IC once again and coming up with something like that alone!

Headed off to watch movie with parents and aunt after that, and oh man, Treasure Hunter was bad =.=  Weak plot, lousy acting, missing bits and pieces, minimal fighting scenes!!!! Let's just say I spent 33 bucks for family time, la hor. Defnitely not for the movie. Faints. The only thing that fascinated me was that Jay actually looked like he's playing the instrument properly instead of some lousy cmi acting of playing an instrument. Then again, it should be expected of a musician too.. :s And after complaining left right up down, I realize my entire list of want-to-watch movies have almost all "expired".. With the exception of Bodyguards and Assassins, Avatar, Alvin and the Chipmunks II, since I watched Sherlock Holmes (: Sherlock Holmes was so good!!

Second day of 2010, here I come!

Except that I think it's a teeny weeny bit odd that I should still have the pains after 4 days; maybe it's time to visit the doctor (again). Neither gastric nor cramps, just weird and pain.

Movies galore

1) Storm Warriors
2) The Princess and the Frog
3) Christmas Carol (is it even still showing?!)
4) Sherlock Holmes
5) Fantastic Mr Fox
6) Avatar
7) Alvin and the Chipmunks II

So many movies, so little time and money.. :(

 ---------------------------------------------------------------

Had a very rough night, consisting of 2 nightmares :s blame it on my overactive imagination, refusing to let me sleep even in peace, haiz. But it was so bad, I couldn't even tell that I was in the midst of a dream, and I usually can tell.. -.- Pounding heart all the way, and I might even have teared. For all but some trival stuff.. Gosh. I need to be able to sleep in peace leh.

G Force!

Good old rodent fun. Much of an entertainment watching the guinea pigs and mole racing around and doing FBI stuff with that hilarious thing on their ears, and watching them create huge messes which is not humanely possible. And oh, a pleasant twist to a very straightforward show. I'll admit that my attention on the show throughout has been all on the guinea pigs, mole, and mice. None on the humans. Lol.

And the fall which was super embarrassing turned out in the form of a bruise as well. Oh my.. I'm a serious walking disaster, I may say. HOW to fall down in a cinema, is way beyond my comprehension before today. -.-

On another positive note, my throat's been better ever since taking the anti-swelling medicine! But golly, it leaves me anticipating for the next dose of the medicine, which is every 12 hrs, because since taking it at 9.30am today, it's gradually gone back to swallowing with pain, and I can't wait till 9.30pm comes when I can take another dose. Gosh, HATE depending on medicine. I've probably eaten more medicine since last friday than in my past few years of life. Grr.

Wonder how Yuenling's doing. Adjust well, and have loads of fun!

Spending weekend

Oh god, I spent 40 on saturday, and 40 today!

AND all of them were on food + movie -.- what a way to start off the new week, haha. I shall be frugal this week. VERY frugal.

Had my happy movie outing today, and amongst a not so common group of people, we actually did alright. Hahaha. SPOILERS! Movie was not the same as the book, but it's ok, coz it's expected, I didn't and wouldn't expect it to be the same. So many intimate details, but I like the last scene of the book where they met at 80 instead of 40? But I did like the fact that they actually made contact with one another in the movie,  because the book had the scene where Alba met her dad at the school excursion and called her mum but they never did get to meet :(

Tomorrow's another work day, but this week is a short week!
